Doha: In its editorial, Al-Arab highlighted the significant growth and momentum in the relationship between the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom. The bilateral cooperation has expanded to include health, education, science, culture, sports, and numerous other areas that continue to grow.

According to Qatar News Agency, the launch of the second Qatar-UK Strategic Dialogue, co-chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Lammy, marks another step in advancing the partnership between Qatar and the UK. This initiative emphasizes both parties' continued commitment to enhancing cooperation in various fields.

The newspaper concluded its editorial by noting that the second Strategic Dialogue addresses cooperation between the two countries across four main pillars: future prosperity, a secure future, a more just future, and the future of relations between the two peoples. These discussions are taking place within eight working groups specializing in defense, security, counterterrorism, trade and investment, science, technology and innovation, development, mediation, culture, education, heritage, and health.

For its part, Al-Raya newspaper stated that the second Strategic Dialogue follows the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to London last December, which represented a historic milestone in the relationship between the two nations. The Strategic Dialogue marks a new launch and a significant advancement in the growing strategic relationship.

HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that Qatar has invested more than 40 billion pounds in the UK economy, and the trade exchange between the two countries exceeded 1.6 billion pounds in 2024. His Excellency emphasized that Qatar continues to play a pivotal role among the major global investors in the UK.

The dialogue culminated in the announcement of a letter of intent to cooperate in peace, reconciliation, and conflict resolution within the framework of the Qatar-UK Strategic Dialogue. Meanwhile, The Peninsula stated that Qatar enjoys a global reputation as a neutral, reliable, and responsible mediator to help conflict parties reach agreements.

In its editorial, The Peninsula highlighted Qatar's pivotal role in facilitating Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DrC) in signing a joint declaration. This declaration pledges to respect each other's sovereignty and draft a peace agreement by May 2 to end hostilities in conflict-torn eastern Congo, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in attendance.

The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in DrC praised Qatar's role in facilitating the signing of the joint declaration. The agreement commits both nations to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, refrain from supporting non-state armed groups, avoid interfering in each other's internal affairs, address security concerns through peaceful means, and establish a joint security mechanism to combat organized crime.
