Doha: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) today announced the 28-player squad for the national U23 team, as part of preparations for the AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, set to be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia early next year. According to Qatar News Agency, the squad, selected by head coach Edio Valle, includes goalkeepers Sami Mazen (Al Rayyan), Ali Ghlais (Al Shamal), and Mohammed Fawzi (Al Ahli). It also includes defenders and midfielders Ahmed Riyadh (Al Ahli), Ahmed Hajaneh (Al-Waab), Anas Abdulsalam (Calahorra, Spain), Awab Al Awad (Al Sailiya), Ayoub Mohammed (Al Gharafa), Jassim Al Sharshani (Al Ahli), Saifeldin Hassan (Al Gharafa), Abdulaziz Mohammed (Al Shahania), Abdullah Al-Otaibi (Alcorcón, Spain), Abdullah Mujib (Calahorra, Spain), Abdullah Mahmoud (Al Duhail), Ali Mohammed (Al Ahli), Fares Said (Al Duhail), Mohammed Gouda (Al Arabi), Mohammed Khaled (Al Wakrah), Mohammed Seraj (Al Rayyan), Mohammed Ali (Calahorra, Spain), Marwan Barmeel (Al Shamal), Marwan Sharaf (Al Arabi), Mustafa Al- Sayed (Al Rayyan), Moaz Ibrahim (Calahorra, Spain), Moaz Al-Wadiya (Al Shahania), Nabil Irfan (Al Wakrah), Nour Eddine Tamer (Al Ahli), and Yousef Tarek (Al Wakrah). Qatar has been drawn in Group H alongside Bahrain, India, and Brunei Darussalam. Doha will host all Group H matches from September 1 to 9. The group winners from each of the 11 groups will qualify for the final tournament, along with the four best second-placed teams. They will join hosts Saudi Arabia to complete the lineup of 16 teams competing in the AFC U23 Asian Cup finals.
