Qatar TV Celebrates 55 Years of Strengthening Cultural Identity

Doha: Qatari newspapers have highlighted the 55th anniversary of Qatar Television, a media institution recognized for its contributions in fostering loyalty, preserving the Arab and Islamic identity, and upholding the social values of the Qatari people.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Arab newspaper, in its editorial titled "Qatar TV... Memory of Generations", emphasized that Qatar TV has been a staple presence in homes and state agencies across the nation for the past 55 years. The editorial noted that the channel has benefited from the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, enabling it to fulfill its mission and continue developing its programs and services. The Qatar Media Corporation remains committed to maintaining the enthusiasm and dedication of Qatar TV's staff to ensure its ongoing contributions.

The editorial also stressed that the anniversary celebration marks a recognition of Qatar TV's significant role in reinforcing cultural loyalty and preserving the identity and values of the Qatari people. It concluded by acknowledging the channel's rich contributions over the years.

In a separate editorial, The Peninsula newspaper focused on Qatar's Years of Culture initiative. Launched in 2012, the initiative aims to position Qatar as a key player in cultural diplomacy. The newspaper described it as a strategic exercise in soft power and global engagement, with this year's program dedicated to Argentina and Chile.

The Peninsula elaborated on the initiative's role in bridging continents through creative exchanges, organized by Qatar Museums in collaboration with local institutions. The editorial highlighted Qatar's choice to invest in culture as a universal medium capable of transcending geopolitical tensions and economic changes. It emphasized the initiative's potential to engage Qataris, particularly the younger generation, with the world while preserving their identity.

The newspaper concluded by affirming that Qatar's cultural diplomacy efforts through the Years of Culture initiative are praiseworthy, serving as a platform for building empathy and shared narratives in a divided world.
