Manama: The Qatari fencing team achieved significant success at the West Asian Junior and Youth Fencing Championship in Bahrain, amassing a total of 12 medals: 6 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze.
According to Qatar News Agency, the championship, which concluded on Thursday, featured participation from numerous countries. On the final day, the Qatari team secured two gold medals and one silver in the team events. The boys’ under-17 epee team, consisting of Youssef Abdel Tawab, Abdulrahman Al Jadra, Ali Al Khalif, and Adham Al Deeb, clinched the gold medal. Meanwhile, the boys’ under-17 foil team, with members Adham Al Deeb, Ibrahim Youssef, and Abdulrahman Burjab, earned a silver medal.
Over the five days of the tournament, the Qatari national team collected 10 medals. The boys’ under-15 foil team, comprising Adham El Deeb, Ibrahim Youssef, Abdulrahman Bou Rajab, and Nasser Salah, secured a gold medal. Individual achievements included gold medals for Isabelle Bettadini in the girls’ under-15 foil and Adham El-Deeb in the boys’ under-15 foil categories.
The team also excelled in other categories, winning a silver medal in the Under-13 Boys’ Epee individual event through Nasser Salah, and a bronze in the Under-15 Boys’ Epee individual event by Abdulrahman Bu Rajab. Adham Al Deeb and Isabelle Bettadini added to the gold tally by winning in the Under-17 Men’s and Women’s Epee events, respectively.
Bronze medals were also won by Abdulrahman Al Jadra in the Under-17 Epee, claimed by Youssef Abdel Tawab, and Abdulrahman Bu Rajab in the Under-17 Foil event. The Qatari team’s performance highlighted their growing prowess in fencing, underscoring their commitment to achieving excellence at both regional and international levels.
