Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, is set to host the 7th edition of the Theater Festival for Persons with Disabilities in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This event will take place from November 27 to December 3, aligning with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. According to Qatar News Agency, the festival aims to integrate persons with disabilities into Gulf societies and increase awareness about their talents and capabilities. It seeks to enhance confidence in individuals with disabilities by highlighting their skills in theater, allowing them to express their issues through artistic work and fostering societal integration. During the festival, GCC countries will showcase a range of theatrical performances, providing a platform for participants to present their talents. The State of Qatar had previously achieved significant success at the sixth edition of the GCC Theater Festival for Persons with Disabilities, held in Riyadh in 2022, where it won three awards. The Theater Festival for Persons with Disabilities is a biennial event, with hosting responsibilities rotating among the GCC states.
