Manila: The Qatar men’s national volleyball team is set to face Romania on Wednesday in their third and final match of the group stage at the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship. The championship is currently being held in the Philippines and will continue through September 28, featuring participation from 23 teams.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari team is aiming to deliver a strong performance and recover from its previous two losses against the Netherlands, with a score of 3-1, and Poland, with a score of 3-0. This tournament marks Qatar’s second appearance in the Volleyball World Championship, following their debut in the 2022 edition co-hosted by Poland and Slovenia.
Qatar was placed in Group B through the tournament draw, a group widely regarded as the toughest in the competition. Group B includes top-ranked and defending champion Poland, as well as the Netherlands and Romania. The championship format consists of group-stage matches, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout rounds.
The Round of 16 matches are scheduled from September 20 to 23, followed by the quarterfinals on September 24 and 25. The semifinals will take place on September 27, with the medal matches set for September 28.
