Cairo: The Qatar Stars League (QSL) took part in the annual meeting of the World Leagues Association, which was hosted over two days in Cairo by the Egyptian Pro League. The gathering attracted participation from 37 professional leagues such as the Premier League, Spanish League, Italian League, Portuguese League, among others. Additionally, a delegation from FIFA and various international sports figures were in attendance.
According to Qatar News Agency, the QSL was represented by Dr. Ahmed Khellil Abbassi, the Executive Director of Competitions and Football Development. Dr. Abbassi engaged in multiple meetings and discussions with officials and representatives of the participating leagues. These interactions aimed to exchange valuable experiences and examine the latest programs concerning competitions and the development process in football.
Several agenda items were addressed during the meeting, with a primary focus on coordinating relationships between professional leagues. A key highlight was the launc
h of the League Development Programme, which provides a tailored audit, benchmarking, and strategic planning process designed to aid leagues of all sizes in their development efforts.
Workshops were conducted to foster cooperation between leagues from different continents and to deliberate on the expanding international calendar, which imposes pressure on some players and professional clubs. The QSL’s regular participation in such meetings underscores its commitment to enhancing relations with professional leagues worldwide, exchanging knowledge, and staying informed about the latest developments in football-related matters.
