Qatar Solidifies Role as Diplomatic Power with Key Mediation in Colombian Peace Process

Doha: Qatar has further cemented its position as a crucial diplomatic power in global mediation through its involvement in the peace agreement aimed at resolving the conflict in Colombia. The State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the significance of this agreement, which is focused on ensuring the security, safety, and dignity of the Colombian people. The framework established by the agreement is designed to foster trust and mutual respect while revitalizing local economies and promoting comprehensive peace.

According to Qatar News Agency, the minister underscored the agreement as a pivotal moment in this phase of history, with the responsibility for its implementation resting on the involved parties. Qatar, alongside Norway, Switzerland, Spain, and other regional partners, will continue to support the implementation mechanisms and assist in overcoming future challenges.

During a press conference, the minister expressed gratitude to the Organization of American States for its unwavering support throughout the process. He encouraged national institutions, civil society, and international partners to back the commitment and achieve tangible results for the Colombian people.

Officials from Norway, Switzerland, and Spain also praised Qatar's efforts in facilitating the Doha Agreement, which reinforced the commitment to peace between the Colombian government and the self-declared EGC group. They acknowledged the long-term political support required for peace diplomacy and the potential for setbacks.
