Qatar Reiterates Firm Support for Sudan’s Unity and Stability

Geneva: The State of Qatar reiterated its firm and supportive stance on the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, emphasizing the right of its fraternal people to live in dignity, security, and stability. Qatar expressed deep concern over the ongoing war and the accompanying crimes and grave human rights violations, which have resulted in the loss of thousands of lives and property, the displacement of millions, and unprecedented destruction of infrastructure.

According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was delivered by Sheikh Sultan bin Khalid Al-Thani, Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva, during an enhanced interactive dialogue on Sudan within the framework of the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. Sheikh Sultan highlighted the urgency for a solution, urging the necessity of conducting a comprehensive and rational dialogue to reach an agreement that restores security and stability to Sudan.

He emphasized that since the beginning of the crisis, Qatar has been keen to provide all forms of support and humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people. On February 9, a convoy of medical grants provided by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) was sent to provide emergency and life-saving medicines, with the number of beneficiaries estimated at half a million people in 12 Sudanese states.

Sheikh Sultan urged the international community to increase efforts and provide more support to the Sudanese, stressing the importance of facilitating unhindered access for humanitarian aid to those affected.
