Qatar Reaffirms Firm Stance on Palestinian Issue at Cairo Meeting

Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their Sunday editorials several topics from both the local and Arab fronts, focusing heavily on Qatar's unwavering position concerning the Palestinian issue. This stance was notably affirmed on Saturday when HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani took part in the six-party Arab ministerial meeting on the situation in Palestine, held in Cairo. During this meeting, Qatar firmly opposed any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, the joint statement issued at the conclusion of the six-party meeting expressed appreciation for the roles of Qatar and Egypt in reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and facilitating the exchange of hostages and detainees. The statement also highlighted the significant role of the United States in implementing the agreement.

On the local front, the newspapers emphasized Qatar's dedication to creating a promising investment environment in priority sectors of the national economy. This includes supporting an administrative and legislative system that encourages business practices, characterized by a suitable legislative framework for business development and attracting investments.

Al Arab newspaper underscored Qatar's consistent prioritization of the Palestinian cause and its advocacy for Palestinian rights. This commitment is reflected in Qatar's participation in the recent Cairo meeting, where the country reiterated its stance against displacing Palestinians from Gaza. The newspaper noted Qatar's active role in international forums, advocating for the end of Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The newspaper also detailed Qatar's financial contributions to supporting the Palestinian people, including funding reconstruction projects in Gaza and providing aid for basic services like health and education. Al Arab concluded that Qatar views the end of the occupation and the right to self-determination for Palestinians as essential, with mediation and humanitarian work being central to Doha's regional and international strategy.

Al Sharq newspaper echoed these sentiments, highlighting the Prime Minister's participation in the Cairo meeting and Qatar's rejection of displacement attempts. The publication stressed Qatar's commitment to mobilizing international efforts to maintain peace, rebuild Gaza, and ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces, while rejecting any attempts to divide Gaza.

The newspaper concluded by reaffirming Qatar's unwavering support for the Palestinian people's rights and its historical backing of their just cause. This support aligns with international law, legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative, which advocates for an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
