Qatar Officially Applies to be HCCH Member

Doha: The State of Qatar applied Thursday to be a Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) member.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Dr. Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani presented the request during a ceremony at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, depositary of the HCCH Conventions. The ceremony was attended by senior officials and Qatari Embassy staffers.

HE Al Qahtani emphasized that the State of Qatar views the accession as a significant step in enhancing international legal cooperation to further support peace, consolidate justice, and foster economic development. He underscored the HCCH's crucial role in building bridges of legal cooperation among nations since its inception in 1893.

Meanwhile, HE HCCH Secretary-General Dr Christophe Bernasconi praised the State of Qatar's initiative as a step forward in promoting private international law agreements both regionally and internationally.
