Qatar National Volleyball Team Advances in West Asian Championship

Doha: The Qatari national men's volleyball team has successfully advanced to the second round of the West Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, currently being held in Bahrain. This achievement came after a decisive victory over Oman, with Qatar clinching the match with a score of three sets to one. Group B, which Qatar is a part of, also includes teams from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Oman.

According to Qatar News Agency, the championship is structured into two groups, with Group A featuring the host nation Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Lebanon. The Qatari team's advancement reflects their strong performance and strategic gameplay throughout the group stages, positioning them as strong contenders in the championship.

The Qatari team's success comes amid various other sporting and institutional developments in the country. Al-Wakrah SC announced the signing of Spanish striker Raul de Tomas on a one-season loan from Spanish La Liga side Rayo Vallecano. Meanwhile, Al Gharafa Sports Club renewed the contract of Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico for another season, ensuring stability in its roster for the upcoming sports season.

Beyond the sports arena, Qatar is witnessing significant economic and institutional progress. National Leasing Holding reported a substantial increase in net profit for the first half of 2025, showcasing a 13.10 percent rise compared to the previous year. Similarly, Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) experienced a 5.2 percent increase in net profit in H1 2025.

In the healthcare sector, Hamad Medical Corporation has launched a new mobile application, 'Lbaih,' aimed at improving patient access to medical services and enhancing their overall treatment experience. Additionally, Sidra Medicine is set to host the annual Women's Health Conference (WHC 2025) in September, focusing on advancing women's health issues.

These developments underscore Qatar's multifaceted progress across sports, healthcare, and economic sectors, contributing to the broader growth narrative of the nation.
