Qatar National Library Honors Morocco’s Ancient Libraries: A Celebration of Cultural Heritage.

Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) celebrated Wednesday the history of Morocco's ancient libraries, as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture activities. Experts and specialists discussed in two lectures the Moroccan libraries' leading roles in disseminating and exchanging knowledge at the local and international levels. According to Qatar News Agency, Senior Archivist at QNL, Dr. Moez Al Dridi, emphasized that this event embodies the QNL's commitment to supporting and preserving Arab heritage and enhancing awareness of the region's history. Dr. Al Dridi stated that the importance of ancient libraries lies in their role as a bridge between the past and the future. With the participation of professors, experts, and specialists, the event highlighted the valuable treasures contained in these libraries and treasuries dating back to the Middle Ages. Some of these treasures have been investigated, printed, and published, while others await further investigation and publication. Dr. Al Khayali Abdelmajid , Head of Human Resources, Finance, and Scientific Research at the Hassania Library in Rabat, presented a lecture reviewing the library's significant manuscript holdings. Meanwhile, Professor Mustafa Al Tubi, leading the Research Team on Moroccan Manuscript Heritage at Ibn Zohr University, discussed an aspect of manuscript science, applying its concepts to the manuscripts of the Zaydani Library.
