Kuwait City: The Ministry of Culture is participating in the 47th Kuwait International Book Fair, which kicked off Wednesday and runs until November 30, 2024. Qatar’s involvement aims to spotlight Qatari intellectual production, promote the Ministry’s electronic library, and foster cultural and intellectual connections between nations.
According to Qatar News Agency, a collection of Qatari publishing houses is present at the exhibition, including Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, Al Watad for Publishing and Distribution, Rosa Publishing and Distribution, and Nabja Publishing House. These publishers are showcasing a wide array of books spanning various fields.
Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture and Director of the Doha International Book Fair, emphasized that the Ministry’s participation seeks to highlight aspects of Qatari literature and culture. The display includes the Ministry’s recent publications across numerous knowledge domains, from novels an
d legal texts to social and human sciences, along with notable children’s and young adult books.
Al Buainain noted that the Ministry of Culture’s involvement aims to forge new relationships with cultural and publishing industry professionals while presenting Qatari intellectual contributions from local publishing houses. The 2024 Kuwait International Book Fair brings together 544 publishing houses from 31 Arab and foreign countries, featuring a varied cultural program with Jordan as the guest of honor.
