Amman: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Transport, has taken a pivotal role by chairing the 25th session of the Committee on Transport and Logistics of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), held in Jordan. The session witnessed participation from representatives of Arab transportation ministries, the Arab League, the World Bank, and various transportation and logistics organizations. According to Qatar News Agency, Hamad Ali Al Marri, Director of the Land Transport Licensing Department at the Ministry of Transport, led the meetings. Key topics included the examination of recommendations from the previous session submitted to the ESCWA Executive Secretariat and discussions on the latest regional developments concerning transportation and logistics. The agenda further emphasized enhancing cybersecurity within the transportation industry, addressing transportation and food security issues, and evaluating the economic repercussions of the Red Sea crisis on Arab economies. Additionally, the Committee was updated on ongoing negotiations regarding the negotiable cargo document, the first global document intended to standardize international ground transportation and establish a unified Arab stance.
