According to Qatar News Agency, HH the Amir stated that the inauguration of these strategic solar power projects is part of a broader plan to transition to renewable energy. These projects aim to diversify Qatar's energy resources, bolster strategic development projects, and utilize low-carbon energy in sustainability plans and efforts to reduce environmental impacts. Al-Watan noted that the Amir's support for the inauguration underscores Qatar's commitment to renewable energy as a strategic choice within its vision for comprehensive and sustainable development, balancing economic growth with environmental protection.
Meanwhile, Al-Arab newspaper reported that QatarEnergy's inauguration of the solar energy projects in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed is aligned with the State's plans to transition to renewable energy, diversify energy resources, and support strategic development initiatives. The newspaper highlighted that QatarEnergy has employed national expertise to build, operate, and maintain these solar power plants, marking a departure from reliance on foreign expertise. The operation of these plants will increase the country's solar power generation capacity to 1,675 megawatts, advancing the fourth pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Al-Arab concluded that the new solar power plants are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 4.7 million tons annually. This achievement underscores Qatar's economic transformation and environmental commitment, solidifying its position as a regional leader in renewable energy.
