Qatar, IAEA Collaborate on Integrated Electronic Radiation Safety System


Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by its Radiation Protection Department, recently convened a meeting with a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to discuss the development of an integrated electronic system aimed at creating a comprehensive database on licenses, inspections, and radiation safety activities.



According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on strategies to enhance national capabilities and strengthen the regulatory framework to ensure the safe, sustainable, and peaceful use of radiation technologies in Qatar. The IAEA delegation shared insights on the latest global best practices in data management, licensing, inspection, and control procedures, highlighting measures to enhance regulatory processes in line with internationally recognized standards in radiation safety.



This meeting marks part of the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry and the IAEA, emphasizing their shared commitment to achieving the highest levels of radiation safety and protecting the environment and public health from potential radiation risks. These efforts highlight Qatar’s dedication to adopting global best practices in radiation protection, contributing to the country’s broader sustainable development goals.



Through this cooperation, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change aims to further establish Qatar as a regional and international leader in radiation safety. The initiative ensures the responsible and secure use of radiation technologies across industrial, medical, and research sectors, in full compliance with the highest international safety and security standards.
