Qatar Enhances Global Postal Standards at UPU Council of Administration Session.

Berne: The State of Qatar, through the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) and Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post), actively participated in the 2024 session of the Universal Postal Union's (UPU) Council of Administration (CA) in Berne, Switzerland. The participation underscored Qatar's ongoing influence in shaping global postal standards and practices. According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation engaged in strategic discussions and committee leadership during the session. Qatar co-chaired, alongside the Republic of Belarus, Committee 4, which focuses on Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance. This role reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to advancing the global postal sector. Qatar's leadership in the session supported initiatives addressing disparities in postal infrastructure across UPU member states. The session's agenda included vital topics such as disaster risk management, quality of service enhancements, financial inclusion initiatives, and sustainable development strategi es. These discussions aimed to shape postal policies and projects extending into 2029. Through its participation, CRA reinforced Qatar's standing on the global stage by aligning national postal policy with international standards. This ensures that Qatar remains at the forefront of regulatory, operational, and policy advancements in the postal landscape, benefiting consumers, service providers, and stakeholders within the country. CRA's active involvement in the UPU session highlights Qatar's contributions to the global postal community. In accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third Qatar National Development Strategy 2024 - 2030, CRA is dedicated to fostering sustainable growth through international collaboration and excellence in postal governance. The Universal Postal Union, established in 1874 and headquartered in Berne, Switzerland, is a specialized United Nations agency with 192 member countries. It sets global postal standards, coordinates development initiatives, and addresses challen ges in the postal sector. Since joining the UPU in 1969, Qatar has played an influential role in promoting robust and inclusive postal services globally, contributing significantly to UPU operations and advancing global postal systems.
