Victoria Falls: The State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), made its presence felt at the 10th edition of the Africa-Indian Ocean (AFI) Aviation Week. This event, organized by the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), took place in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and marked a significant gathering for regional aviation stakeholders.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar's delegation was led by Mohamed Faleh Al Hajri, who is responsible for managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority. The event served as a platform to address pivotal issues concerning the implementation of ICAO's global and regional plans. Discussions focused on enhancing aviation safety, the development of infrastructure and air navigation, addressing emerging security threats, and facilitating development.
During the opening session, Al Hajri emphasized the importance of bolstering cooperation between Qatar and African nations to advance the aviation sector. He acknowledged the support provided by African countries during the Doha Facilitation Conference, held in April 2025, which resulted in the adoption of the "Doha Declaration for Facilitation".
Al Hajri also underlined Qatar's active role within ICAO, highlighting the country's ongoing support for the organization's initiatives and activities. He noted Qatar's significant contributions to the global advancement of the aviation sector.
On the sidelines of the event, Al Hajri engaged in several bilateral meetings with heads of participating delegations. These discussions centered around strengthening cooperation and aligning positions in anticipation of the upcoming ICAO General Assembly.
