Qatar Engages in Arab League Emergency Talks on Israeli Threats Against Iraq.

Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in an urgent meeting of the Arab League Council, held at the headquarters in Cairo, to address the Israeli threats against Iraq. The session was attended by permanent delegates, with Qatar's delegation led by HE Ambassador Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari, who represents the State of Qatar in Egypt and the Arab League. According to Qatar News Agency, the emergency meeting was called upon by the Republic of Iraq following a memo from the President of the UN Security Council dated November 18, 2024. The memo detailed allegations from Israel, which claimed that attacks from Iraqi territory had increased in frequency and intensity since September 2024. These developments are seen as a significant escalation that could potentially lead to a large-scale regional conflict. HE Ambassador Al Ansari noted that the Iraqi Permanent Mission to the Arab League urgently requested the meeting to address the Israeli threats impacting Iraq's sovereignty, security, and stability. In response, a ll Arab delegations at the meeting reached a unanimous decision to support Iraq. The unified stance of the Arab delegations was evident in the decision's content, which will be forwarded to Arab ambassadors in New York and relevant authorities for implementation. This process will be coordinated with the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Cairo, as emphasized by HE Al Ansari. HE Al Ansari also highlighted the critical role of the Arab League in complementing the UN's efforts to maintain peace and security in the Middle East. The League's proactive measures aim to contain the growing Israeli aggression and prevent its spread to Iraq, thereby safeguarding regional stability.
