Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in the 57th session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, which commenced at the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo. Heading the Qatari delegation at this session is HE Acting Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sarah Abdullah Al Saadi.
According to Qatar News Agency, the two-day session focuses on reviewing the recommendations from the previous meeting and addressing critical agenda items such as developments in the Palestinian issue. Discussions include confronting Israeli violations and practices in the occupied Arab territories, the conditions of Arab prisoners in Israeli prisons, and the handling of the bodies of Palestinian and Arab martyrs held in Al Spound 'Arqam Cemeteries.
The agenda also features item four, which pertains to the "Arab Charter on Human Rights." This includes a briefing from the Chair of the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee on recent developments in the committee's work. The session aims to consolidate its findings and submit recommendations to the 165th Ordinary Session of the Council of the Arab League at the Ministerial Level for further review and approval.
The 57th session is led by HE Ambassador Talal Khaled Al Mutairi, Chairman of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights. The session sees participation from relevant government agencies of member states and entities within the joint Arab action system.
