The State of Qatar has been elected Chair of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s Technical Cooperation Committee.
Representatives of ICAO Council member states elected Qatar’s candidate and Permanent Representative in the Council Essa Abdullah Al Malki as the Chairperson of the ICAO Technical Cooperation Committee, during the ICAO Council Meeting.
HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti commented saying that electing Qatar to this post is a realisation from the international community of Qatar’s effective contributions and leading role in finding solutions to the challenges of international civil aviation since elected member of the ICAO Council last year and reflects the faith of the ICAO Member States in the global position Qatar enjoys within the civil aviation community.
The TCC is a body of the ICAO Council and is responsible for assisting and advising the Council on reviewing ICAO policies and activities related to technical cooperation and assistance, training, and operational plans, as well as assessing the effectiveness of the relevant ICAO departments and implementation of the ICAO Technical Cooperation Program in the regions.
It also assists and advises the Council on reviewing the challenges faced by States in the development of their civil aviation sectors and ICAO mechanisms to assist States in dealing with operational and technical challenges.
