Doha: The Qatar Cricket Committee convened for its Ordinary and Extraordinary General Assembly meetings, marking a period of significant organizational change.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings were attended by notable figures including HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al-Thani, Chairman of the Committee; Khalid Saleh Al Rumaihi, Secretary-General; Abdullah Hussein Al Marri, Board Member; various committee members; and a representative from the Qatar Olympic Committee for Sports Affairs. The meeting commenced under the chairmanship of HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al-Thani, following the confirmation of a quorum and the approval of previous meeting minutes.
Discussions during the Ordinary General Assembly focused on the 2025 sports activity reports, future strategies for 2026, and the approval of the fiscal year budget for 2026. These discussions underscore the committee's dedication to advancing cricket in Qatar and enhancing its international stature.
The subsequent Extraordinary General Assembly centered on organizational changes, including the adoption of a new name: Qatar Cricket Association (QCA). This change aligns with the sport's institutional requirements for the forthcoming phase. The assembly also approved statutory amendments linked to the new name, reinforcing governance and the legal framework for cricket in Qatar.
