Qatar Condemns Iranian Attacks, Emphasizes Need for Peaceful Conflict Resolution

Geneva: The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the recent Iranian attacks on its territory, describing them as a blatant violation of its sovereignty and a breach of international law. This statement was delivered by Her Excellency Dr. Hend bint Abdalrahman Al Muftah, the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva, during a session at the Human Rights Council.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Muftah highlighted that these acts of aggression contradict the principles of peaceful relations and pose a threat to regional stability and security. She emphasized that such actions undermine the enjoyment of fundamental human rights, particularly the right to life and security for citizens and residents.

Dr. Al Muftah referenced the recent remarks by the High Commissioner for Human Rights, who noted that the decline in adherence to international law and the increasing reliance on force exacerbate conflict risks and human rights violations. She expressed concern that the world is witnessing a rise in forceful confrontations, which could lead to further destruction and division.

Furthermore, Dr. Al Muftah reiterated Qatar's stance as a proponent of dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution, underscoring the belief that wars foster an environment ripe for human rights abuses. She urged for de-escalation and a return to negotiations to prevent further confrontations that could prove challenging to resolve.
