Qatar Charity and Save the Children Forge Partnership for Global Humanitarian Efforts

Doha: Qatar Charity and Save the Children have announced a new partnership aimed at providing urgent relief to children and families affected by humanitarian emergencies both in the Middle East and globally. The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the World Summit for Social Development in Doha by Save the Children CEO Inger Ashing and Qatar Charity CEO Yousuf bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.

According to Qatar News Agency, the partnership will facilitate the implementation of various humanitarian and development programmes to support vulnerable children and their families. These initiatives may include areas such as cash programming, education, health, water and sanitation, food, economic empowerment, and social welfare.

As an initial step in this collaboration, Qatar Charity is contributing USD 1 million to a joint USD 2 million programme with Save the Children. This programme aims to provide multi-purpose cash assistance to 2,133 families affected by conflict and vulnerability.

Yousuf bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, emphasized the significance of this agreement as a strategic move to enhance joint humanitarian efforts and broaden the impact for children and vulnerable communities. He highlighted the opportunity to leverage international expertise and develop innovative programmes that address the needs of children and families affected by crises, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Inger Ashing, CEO of Save the Children International, expressed their enthusiasm for collaborating with Qatar Charity on this significant investment in children worldwide. She noted the critical importance of ensuring children's rights and securing a healthy future, anticipating a positive impact on the services and projects facilitated by both organizations, especially in disaster and emergency responses.
