Qatar Calls for Enhanced Diplomacy and Security Collaboration at Milan Forum

Milan: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Majed Mohammed Al Ansari has called for greater international cooperation and renewed diplomatic engagement to address growing regional and global instability. Speaking at a session in Milan titled “Bridging Stability: EU-GCC Cooperation in an Era of Fragmentation”, Dr Al Ansari emphasized the increasing pressure on global stability and decision-making processes due to ongoing conflicts and geopolitical crises.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event was organized by the Doha Forum and MED Dialogues in partnership with the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) and the Center for International Policy Research (CIPR). Dr Al Ansari warned that certain actors were promoting political narratives and strategies to enhance their strategic interests amidst the changing global power dynamics. He stressed the importance of mediation and diplomacy in achieving sustainable solutions and long-term stability, noting that political and military pressure alone is insufficient.

Dr Al Ansari questioned the current effectiveness of diplomacy, suggesting that this reflected a growing need for increased diplomatic efforts. He urged nations to engage in dialogue and utilize diplomatic channels to prevent further conflict escalation and to break deeper cycles of conflict.

He pointed out the impact of the current war on international relations, particularly affecting ties between Europe, the United States, and Middle Eastern countries, with significant implications for energy security, the global economy, supply chains, and international alliances. Dr Al Ansari concluded by stating that security and stability could no longer be attained by individual states acting independently, but instead required collective cooperation and broader international coordination. He called for a shared vision to address the rapidly changing regional and international challenges, emphasizing the interconnectedness of nations and the multifaceted impact of current crises.
