Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani chaired the regular weekly meeting held by the Cabinet on Wednesday morning at its headquarters in the Amiri Diwan. During the meeting, the Cabinet expressed its support for the Doha Framework Agreement for Peace between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Congo River Alliance, which was signed on November 15. This agreement is part of Qatar's efforts, in collaboration with its partners, to foster peace and stability in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Cabinet expressed hope that both parties would adhere to the provisions of the agreement and work towards a comprehensive peace settlement.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet's agenda included several important draft decisions and memorandums of understanding (MoUs). The Cabinet approved a draft decision from the Minister of Commerce and Industry regarding the classification of companies. This decision aims to align legislation with the fast-evolving business environment and enhance economic growth through clear classification criteria for companies based on their size. The decision seeks to improve transparency and the efficiency of national companies.
The Cabinet also approved various MoUs aimed at strengthening international cooperation. These included MoUs on climate change adaptation and green growth with the Global Green Growth Institute, endowments and Islamic affairs with the Republic of Djibouti, and labor cooperation with the Republic of Maldives. Additionally, MoUs on healthcare with The Gambia, public prosecution with Kazakhstan, and audit work with the UAE were also approved.
The meeting concluded with the Cabinet reviewing reports and making necessary decisions. These reports covered the work of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee, participation outcomes from the 116th session of the Economic and Social Council in Cairo, and participation in the 42nd Session of the International Civil Aviation Organization Assembly in Montreal.
