Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet reviewed and approved several important topics on its agenda. In principle, the Cabinet agreed on a draft law for a unified system for volunteering work in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, along with its executive regulations. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Social Development and Family’s strategy to enhance social responsibility, spread the culture of volunteering, and organize volunteering work while preserving the rights of volunteers and organizations involved.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft decision to add a member to the Steering Committee of the Qatar Internet Exchange Point project. Prepared by the Communications Regulatory Authority, this decision will connect financial institutions overseen by the Qatar Central Bank to the Internet Exchange Point, ensuring business continuity in the financial sector.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved several international agreements, including a draft agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to establish a regional office in Qatar and a core contribution agreement with the United Nations World Food Program for the years 2025-2026. Other approvals included a letter of intent with Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and a memorandum of understanding on Islamic jurisprudence with the International Islamic Fiqh Academy.
The meeting concluded with a review of Qatar’s participation in the 16th International Economic Forum Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum, with the Cabinet taking the appropriate decisions on the matter.
