Qatar Authors Forum Hosts Novel Writing Workshop with Dr. Amir Taj El-Sir

Doha: The Ministry of Culture's Qatar Authors Forum (QFA) organized a workshop on the foundations of the art of the novel with Dr. Amir Taj El-Sir, which commenced on January 12 and is scheduled to conclude on January 15. The workshop is designed to offer participants a comprehensive understanding of novel writing, beginning from the initial idea to the final text, emphasizing practical experiences and interactions with authentic texts.

According to Qatar News Agency, the workshop aims to enhance narrative skills and artistic awareness among attendees. It primarily targets young individuals and those inclined towards literature and the novel, including secondary school and university students, as well as aspiring writers looking to refine their writing abilities based on sound artistic principles. Core themes of the event include exploring sources of fictional ideas, transforming inspiration into narrative topics, character development, plot techniques, event structuring, and the use of style and language in novel writing.

The workshop also incorporates insights from Dr. Amir Taj El-Sir's personal experience in developing a text from its initial draft to its final version, complemented by a practical session on writing and reviewing a novel excerpt within an interactive panel discussion. Participants are expected to create an excerpt, a fictional story, or a full draft ready for completion, while also gaining proficiency in fiction writing basics, self-critical skills, and literary editing techniques.

This workshop is the second in a series of foundational workshops organized by QFA as part of its continuous efforts to discover literary talent, enhance cultural knowledge among writers, and deepen the artistic and professional foundations necessary for innovative writing. The series contributes to nurturing the cultural scene and invigorating literary production.
