Qatar and Uzbekistan Forge Strategic Partnership with Economic and Trade Focus

Doha: Al-Watan, in its editorial titled "A Solid Strategic Partnership," has emphasized the robust and resilient nature of the relationship between Qatar and Uzbekistan. The editorial highlights the strong support from both nations' leaderships aimed at advancing ties towards new and promising horizons, particularly in the economic and trade sectors.

According to Qatar News Agency, The Peninsula, in its English-language editorial titled "Qatar-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership," noted that the inaugural meeting of the Coordination Council for the Strategic Partnership between Qatar and Uzbekistan, held in Doha, marks a significant milestone in the deepening of bilateral ties between the two nations. This partnership is built on over two decades of solid political relations and formalized through an Agreement on the Establishment of a Bilateral Strategic Partnership signed earlier in 2024.

The Peninsula further stressed that the partnership is not merely symbolic but reflects a mutual recognition of the need for pragmatic, forward-looking cooperation encompassing political, economic, academic, cultural, and environmental dimensions. While bilateral trade stood at 1.8 million dollars in 2024, the memorandum of understanding signed between Qatar Mining and Uzbekistan's Ministry of Mining Industry is seen as a tangible step towards potential growth in trade.

In addition to economic matters, the partnership aims to enhance connectivity, sustainability, and youth empowerment. The Peninsula concluded by affirming that wise management of this partnership can transform it into a blueprint for nations seeking balanced, multi-sectoral engagement rooted in mutual respect and shared ambition.
