Qatar and UAE Forge Landmark Agreement on Labor Relations and Dispute Resolution


Doha: The State of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have signed a landmark agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation in labor affairs and human resource development. This marks a significant step in enhancing coordination and partnership between the two Gulf nations.



According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement was signed by Qatar’s Minister of Labour, Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, and the UAE’s Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al Awar. This initiative is part of Qatar’s strategic cooperation with governments and international organizations in the labor sector, aiming to enhance collaboration, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and promote best international practices in workforce development.



Under the agreement, both parties will implement joint initiatives covering labor legislation and the regulation of employment relations, including recruitment policies, working conditions, occupational safety and health, and dispute resolution. The cooperation also encompasses systems for registering and employing job seekers, as well as programs for training, upskilling, and requalifying the national workforce.



The agreement will also facilitate field visits to study best practices and exchange expertise in human resource development. Additionally, it will support joint labor-sector initiatives and enable the sharing of labor market data, publications, and the latest legislative developments.
