Doha: Qatar Airways has announced its plan to launch operations at The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, with three weekly flights starting from October 21, 2025. This expansion marks the airline’s 12th destination within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer emphasized the airline’s commitment to offering a variety of destinations for global travelers. He stated, “Qatar Airways’ addition of The Red Sea route to our global network is yet another example of our dedication to providing diverse destinations that the discerning global traveller demands.” Al Meer highlighted that The Red Sea offers unique and enriching Middle East experiences, now accessible through Qatar Airways’ hub at Hamad International Airport.
John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea Global Group, remarked on the significance of the new route, stating, “The launch of these new flights with Qatar Airways is a significant step in our journey to establishing The Red Sea as a premier luxury destination on the world stage.” He noted that the route would facilitate travel for those eager to experience the luxury offerings, rich Saudi culture, and innovative regenerative tourism initiatives at The Red Sea.
The introduction of this route is expected to enhance regional connectivity, linking The Red Sea to over 170 global destinations via Qatar Airways. The airline, recognized as the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2025, currently operates more than 130 weekly flights across Saudi Arabia, providing seamless access to the country’s attractions.
The Red Sea is renowned for its natural beauty, featuring over 90 pristine islands, ancient landscapes, and one of the largest barrier reef systems globally, which are attractive to travelers interested in wellness, adventure, history, and scenic retreats.
Red Sea Global, part of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, manages a variety of projects, including luxury tourist destinations. These projects emphasize sustainability and include “The Red Sea,” which started welcoming visitors in 2023, and “Amaala,” set to open in 2025. Additionally, the private “Thuwal Resort” began operations in 2024.
