Qatar Advancing Strategic Projects to Boost Long-term Localization, Says Official

Doha: A senior official at Qatar's Civil Service and Government Development Bureau has announced the implementation of three strategic projects focused on enhancing long-term workforce planning in the public sector.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Anoud Saad Al Naemi, Director of Government Manpower Planning at the bureau, stated that the initiatives aim at job nationalization, strategic workforce planning, and succession planning. These projects are designed to identify and bridge gaps between labor supply and demand across various roles and specializations. They seek to align educational paths with national development plans by linking findings to university majors, thus guiding students towards fields most needed.

The workforce planning approach is based on data collection, analysis, and forecasting of future needs. This ensures a match between educational outcomes and labor market requirements, supporting the sustainability of national human resources in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 objectives.

Al Naemi noted that fields like engineering, computer technologies, programming, artificial intelligence, and data science are top priorities for future specialization. Other areas of demand include medicine, emergency medicine, physics, chemistry, and biology. Priorities are updated regularly based on approved data and indicators.

She emphasized the importance of partnerships with educational institutions and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to align academic programs with employment needs. Guiding students towards in-demand disciplines and updating study plans in coordination with employers are key strategies in supporting the sustainability of the public sector and advancing Qatar's broader development goals.
