PSA Organizes Workshop on Integration of SDGs into Qatars 3rd National Development Strategy

The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA), in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), co-organized a workshop with all UN Agencies Funds and Programs operating in the State of Qatar, on the integration of Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 into the Third National Development Strategy.

The recently held workshop aimed to facilitate the systematic and enhanced alignment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the third national development strategy of the State of Qatar 2023-2030.

In his opening remarks, Assistant President of PSA Mohammed Abdulaziz al Nuaimi said: “This workshop aims to outline a framework by which the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, can be integrated into the 3rd National Development Strategy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.” He pointed out that the workshop activities focused on identifying development priorities related to the SDGs and associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

For his part, UNDPs Technical Representative and Head of Office in Qatar Dr. Biplove Choudhary said: “The consultative workshop provides a valuable and timely opportunity to ensure that the ambitions of SDGs are well captured and integrated into the 3rd Qatar National Development Strategy, to accelerate progress towards 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and ultimately realize Qatar National Vision 2030 which aims to transform Qatar into an advanced country by 2030, capable of sustaining its own development and ensuring high living standards for its people for generations to come.” “UNDP is privileged to partner with the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA), and I would like to thank PSA for engaging the UNDP and the UN sister agencies in this important planning exercise for the country,” added Dr. Choudhary.

The UN entities attending the workshop included UNDP, UNICEF, ILO, UNESCO, IOM, UNHCR, UN Office of Parliamentary Engagement, Uand N Children and Armed Conflict Analysis and Outreach Doha Hub.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, has been adopted by all UN Member States, including Qatar, in 2015. PSA provides regular assessments and reports on Qatars progress toward the SDGs. (QNA)
