Prime Minister of Qatar Discusses Regional Military Escalation with Lebanese Counterpart

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received a telephone call from HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon, Dr. Nawaf Salam. The discussion primarily focused on the developments of the military escalation in the region and its significant repercussions on regional and international security and stability. Both parties explored ways to resolve ongoing disputes through peaceful means.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the targeting of Qatari territory with Iranian ballistic missiles represents a clear violation of Qatar's national sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good neighborliness. His Excellency highlighted that the State of Qatar has consistently aimed to distance itself from regional conflicts and has actively facilitated dialogue between Iran and the international community. However, the recent targeting of its territory does not demonstrate good faith and poses a threat to the foundation of bilateral relations between Qatar and Iran.

His Excellency called for an immediate cessation of any escalatory actions, a return to negotiations, and the prioritization of reason and wisdom to contain the crisis and preserve the security of the region. In response, the Lebanese Prime Minister condemned the Iranian missile attack on Qatari territory, labeling it a blatant violation of Qatar's sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations.
