Doha: Kanlaon Volcano in the Philippines erupted on Tuesday, sending ash and debris 4 kilometers into the sky, which prompted the authorities to suspend classes in four villages.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported no injuries or damage from the latest eruption, which occurred after dawn and lasted for over an hour. The eruption resulted in ashfall over at least four farming communities southwest of the volcano on Negros Island.
Kanlaon last erupted in December 2024, which led to the evacuation of thousands of villagers. Many of these individuals remain in emergency shelters due to the ongoing activity of the volcano.
