Palestinian Vice President Discusses with Egypt’s FM Efforts to Lock in Gaza Ceasefire Deal

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed in a phone call Saturday with the Palestinian Vice President, Hussein Al Sheikh, the latest developments in Palestine and the efforts being made to lock in the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure its implementation.

According to Qatar News Agency, the call addressed the ongoing consultations on the draft resolution before the UN Security Council regarding the developments in Gaza. Both sides underscored the importance of ensuring that the resolution would help uphold the endeavors to end the war and establish all conditions necessary to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry reported in a statement.

Abdelatty reviewed the preparations underway to convene the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza. He stressed the importance of galvanizing regional and global support to ensure the effective enforcement of the early recovery and rebuilding plan.

The two sides further agreed to proceed with close consultation and coordination throughout the upcoming period in support of the Palestinian people and the efforts aimed at achieving a just and enduring peace.
