Palestinian Prisoner’s Society Calls Out Israeli Abuses Against Deported Prisoners

Ramallah: The Palestinian Prisoner's Society has reiterated its condemnation of the persistent practices of the Israeli occupation to deprive dozens of families of released prisoners who were deported to Egypt of travel as part of collective, methodical vengeance policies against the Palestinians.

According to Qatar News Agency, several deported prisoners are excruciatingly grappling with critical health conditions and are in desperate need of constant medical attention with their families beside them, the Society said in a statement Wednesday. It warned that the Israeli occupation continues its punishment approach against those prisoners following their release, using family travel bans as an additional vehicle for pressure and punishment.

The Israeli occupation has been pursuing years-long terrorizing policies against families of released prisoners, which include threats, detention, and depriving the vast majority of deportees of seeing their relatives in the West Bank, the statement continued. The Israeli occupation has deported 383 released Palestinian prisoners to Egypt, with most of them remaining there since, among them 154 out of 250 with high-risk convictions who were released under the ceasefire deal on Oct. 10.
