Doha: HE President of the sisterly State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas stated that the brutal Israeli attack on the sisterly State of Qatar constitutes a violation of international law and a dangerous escalation threatening Arab, regional, and international security and stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, in an exclusive interview ahead of the emergency Arab-Islamic summit to be held in Doha Monday, President Abbas emphasized that the message and goal of participating in the Doha Summit are clear and constant. He underscored that Qatar's security is an integral part of Arab and Islamic national security, and highlighted the unity in confronting these attacks.
President Abbas elaborated on the repercussions of the Israeli attack on Arab and Islamic security, describing it as a dangerous indicator aiming to undermine shared security and destabilize the region. He stressed the necessity of a unified Arab and Islamic response to protect collective security.
Discussing the Arab position and diplomatic steps to halt the attacks, President Abbas emphasized the need for the Arab and Islamic stance to meet the challenge through diplomatic steps and urgent, decisive deterrent measures. He advocated for holding Israel accountable for its ongoing violations against Qatar, Palestine, and other Arab countries.
President Abbas called for expedited entry of humanitarian aid, full withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, cessation of settlement activity and settler terrorism in the West Bank and Jerusalem, the return of seized Palestinian funds, and progress with reconstruction and ending the occupation of the entire territory of the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
He praised the role played by the State of Qatar under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. He noted Qatar's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, demonstrating that peoples and countries defending truth and justice can thwart the schemes of aggressors.
President Abbas remarked that holding this summit in Doha reflects the State of Qatar's prestigious position in the Arab and Islamic worlds and its pivotal mediation role, alongside sisterly Egypt, to halt Israeli aggression against Palestinian people, release hostages and prisoners, provide humanitarian assistance, and defend the Palestinian cause internationally.
Concluding his interview with QNA, President Abbas stressed that targeting residential areas in Qatar aims to undermine Arab and Islamic unity. He emphasized that the emergency summit proves that the nation is more cohesive and resilient in the face of attempts at division and aggression, affirming that Qatar is not alone.
