Doha: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni discussed recent developments in the Palestinian territories, during a phone call on Monday. President Abbas said that current priorities include achieving an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, accelerating the entry of humanitarian aid there to end starvation, securing the release of hostages and prisoners, and achieving comprehensive calm in the West Bank by ending settlement activities, annexation attempts, and settler violence.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Palestinian President also called for the release of withheld Palestinian funds and an end to attacks on holy religious sites.
