Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, who is currently visiting Ramallah, to discuss the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the catastrophic humanitarian situation faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the talks also addressed attacks in the West Bank and northern refugee camps, as well as ongoing assaults by settlers on Palestinians and their property.
During the meeting, the Palestinian President stressed that the current priority is an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to end the starvation crisis, the release of hostages and prisoners, the assumption by the State of Palestine of full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip with Arab and international support, complete Israeli withdrawal, as well as halting settlement activities and annexation attempts, and releasing withheld Palestinian funds.
Abbas emphasized the importance of moving toward implementing the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, as outlined in the International Peace Conference in New York.
