Doha: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas spoke today with French President Emmanuel Macron in a phone call to discuss the latest developments in occupied Palestinian territories, ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and delivery of humanitarian aid.
According to Qatar News Agency, President Abbas stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. He confirmed that the Palestinian government and its institutions are ready to take full responsibility for the crossings in Gaza to help ease suffering of civilians, allow displaced people to return to their homes, and restore essential services like water, electricity, and reconstruction.
Abbas also emphasized the importance of quickly allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza through coordination with the Palestinian government. He called for international pressure on Israeli authorities to halt the ongoing violations in West Bank and Jerusalem, including settlement expansion, settler violence, and attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites.
