Ramallah: The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Tuesday the Israeli occupation's ongoing violations in the occupied West Bank, warning against its policies of displacement, annexation, and collective punishment. The ministry also expressed astonishment at the international community's silence, over Israel's crimes of genocide, displacement, and annexation.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry highlighted that the Israeli occupation has installed nearly 900 checkpoints and iron gates, effectively fragmenting the West Bank and turning it into a massive prison with hundreds of isolated sub-prisons. It stressed that these military checkpoints represent one of the most severe forms of collective punishment imposed on Palestinian citizens and families, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The ministry affirmed that these checkpoints do not serve any security purposes but are instead intended to oppress Palestinians and undermine their resilience, forcing them to seek a better life outside their homeland. It called on the international community to take urgent action to pressure the occupation into removing all its checkpoints, facilitating Palestinian movement, and ensuring their free access to their homes and places of worship during the sacred month.
