Palestinian Foreign Ministry Criticizes Global Inaction Amidst Gaza Famine

Gaza city: The international inertia to address the famine in the Gaza Strip is unjustifiable, as the worsening humanitarian catastrophe has edged to unprecedented levels, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

According to Qatar News Agency, the statement stressed that famine manifestations unfolding in the southern Gaza Strip have exceeded all expectations and sounded the strong alarm, posing a threat to the life of over two million Palestinians there.

The international reactions to these manifestations have yet to amount to the level of crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian civilians in the enclave, particularly those being committed at the aid distribution centers, as are documented daily by numerous witnesses on the sight of the international community, the statement noted.

The ministry went on to say that the international inability to protect the humanitarian corridor and ensure the access of relief to Gazans lays bare the contradiction between positions, words, and actions.

In addition, the ministry emphasized that it has consistently demanded the international community to enforce a serious demarcation between all facets of the situation in the Gaza Strip and the humanitarian dimension pertaining to the fundamental rights of Palestinian civilians, including their entitlement to food, water, and shelter as core tenets of human rights.

It renewed its call for a moral and humanitarian awakening capable of compelling the sustained delivery of aid, by land, sea, and air, to halt the accelerating spread of a lethal famine engulfing over two million Palestinians residing in the Gaza Strip.

The statement underscored that the immediate cessation of the Israeli occupation's aggression and hostilities remains the most direct avenue to guarantee the protection of civilians from the all-out deadly threats looming over them.
