Ramallah: The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday condemned the settler assaults and acts of terrorism taking hold against the Palestinians, their towns, lands, property, and sanctities throughout the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry stated that these practices are occurring under the oversight and protection of the occupation army, as part of an overt division of roles aimed at reconsolidating ongoing control and annexation of the Palestinian territories, in addition to imposing a state of intimidation and terror on civilians in their homes.
The ministry criticized the international community's lack of action in halting the practices committed against the Palestinians for nearly two years, labeling it indefensible. It noted that international reactions have yet to rise to the level required to stop these crimes.
The responsibility of nations and UN agencies, primarily the UN Security Council, must move beyond merely describing the situation in the occupied State of Palestine. The ministry urged for practical measures mandated by international law to ensure the immediate cessation of the war of annihilation, displacement, and annexation; to protect Palestinian civilians; to apply the principle of the two-state solution; and to launch a political pathway to resolve the conflict through political means, away from violence, cycles of war, and the arrogance of power.
