Pakistan Welcomes Long-Awaited Ceasefire in Gaza

Islamabad: Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Thursday welcomed the announcement of the long-awaited ceasefire in Gaza.

According to Qatar News Agency, Sharif appreciated the efforts made by the deal mediators to enhance security and peace in the region, urging full respect and implementation of the agreement. He reiterated Pakistan's support for a two-state solution in line with relevant UN resolutions, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Al Quds as its capital.

The ceasefire agreement, achieved through joint mediation efforts by the State of Qatar, in collaboration with Egypt and the United States, involves an agreement between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel. The ceasefire will be accompanied by an exchange of prisoners and detainees, and is set to take effect next Sunday.
