Oil Prices Rise More Than 1.5% at Settlement

Doha: Oil prices climbed more than 1.5 percent at settlement Monday, extending last week's gains amid growing concerns over potential US sanctions on Russian crude and continued Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure that could disrupt supply. Brent crude futures rose USD 1.07, or 1.58 percent, to settle at USD 68.80 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures gained USD 1.14, or 1.79 percent, closing at USD 64.80.

According to Qatar News Agency, the uptick comes as US President Donald Trump, whose administration is seeking to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine to end the three-and-a-half-year war, reiterated Friday that sanctions would be imposed on Moscow if no progress is made toward a resolution within two weeks.
