Doha: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has renewed its Cooperation Agreement with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) in a ceremony attended by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, who serves as the Senior Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and President of the Qatar Olympic Committee. The signing took place on the sidelines of the 3rd Asian Youth Games currently being held in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement was signed by First Vice President of the OCA Timothy Fok and President of ANOCA Mustapha Berraf. This renewed agreement aims to enhance mutual cooperation between the two organizations, focusing on developing joint initiatives to address shared challenges faced by athletes and professionals across Asia and Africa. It also seeks to improve technical exchange programs, provide training for sports administrators, and coordinate efforts for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, who is the only candidate for the presidency of the Olympic Council of Asia, is set to participate in the election during the OCA General Assembly scheduled for January next year.
