NHRC Organizes Human Rights Day Talk to Promote Global Awareness

Doha: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions and the United Nations Center for Training and Documentation in Human Rights for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, held a talk to commemorate Human Rights Day.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event aimed to emphasize that human rights are foundational elements of daily interactions between individuals and societies rather than mere slogans or legal texts. It underscored the collective responsibility in defending rights, involving governments, institutions, and civil society, and called for transforming principles into practical policies for a dignified life for all.

HE Vice-Chairman of the NHRC, Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Kuwari, highlighted the significance of this occasion in modern history. He noted the advanced awareness of human rights concepts thanks to the Universal Declaration and emphasized the role of equality in international conventions. Dr. Al Kuwari pointed out the global challenges such as climate change, terrorism, and armed conflicts, which lead to human rights violations, stressing the need for collective international action.

HE Secretary-General of the Arab Network, Sultan bin Hassan Al-Jamali, emphasized the pioneering role of national human rights institutions in transforming international commitments into reality. He noted these institutions bridge the gap between state obligations and citizen experiences, promoting a culture of rights and compliance.

Hindam Al Rajoub from the United Nations Center reiterated that human rights are essential daily reliance, calling for joint action to promote core humanitarian values. He emphasized bridging the gap between principles and lived experiences to ensure these values become a tangible reality for all.
