HE Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, who is also the Chairperson of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions, stressed that impunity and ignoring the accountability of perpetrators of war crimes is a betrayal of the victims, especially children.

During her meeting with Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Violence against Children Najat Maalla Mjid, Al Attiyah pointed out that the Global Alliance issued a memorandum to end violence against children to prevent perpetrators of crimes against humanity from escaping punishment.

Her Excellency expressed her deep sorrow for the situation of children in Gaza, stressing that what is happening in the Arab region, especially in Gaza, affects the success of human rights issues in general and the peoples of the Middle East in particular, especially since children are at the forefront of those affected by conflicts and wars.

Her Excellency also met with HE Chairman of
the Bahrain Human Rights Institution Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, on the sidelines of the inaugural dialogue on Business and Human Rights in Arab Region. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation on issues of common interest and exchange best experiences and best practices in human rights issues.
